The price of a logo:
There are many logo companies and graphic design companies on the internet. There is also a huge range in price for a single logo which can be anywhere from around $49 - $1500.00+. This leaves many people confused about the price of a good logo design. So why is there a huge variation in price?
You will find sites that will create a logo very quickly for a low cost (around $49). You can even do it yourself - a process that takes app. 5 minutes. But very little thought goes into a logo that is created this way and it will not be unique or possess many characteristics of a good logo.
Can you imagine Pepsi or Microsoft paying $99.00 for a logo?
There can also be a huge price difference from a company to a freelancer. A freelancer will generally work for less but you may not want the limited selection of designers working on the logo.
The price of a logo depends on the following:
- Experience of the logo designer
- Size & budget of the company using the logo
- Scope and length of the logo usage
- Time the designer will spend on the logo
- Complexity of the logo
- Process of logo development used by the designer
How much is a logo really worth?
How much is a logo design really worth? Ask Coca-Cola, Polo, Nike, The Hard Rock Cafe, Hallmark or any other company that relies on their logo as their number one spokesman. I realize that not all companies are as large as they are, but your company needs a logo that is unique and creates an identity for your business.
Take a look at the design process I use when creating a logo. Also check out the sofelco logo process which will show you the process their logo went through. A lot of time goes into creating something meaningful. You cannot get that from a $49.00 logo.
Overall, the price of a logo depends on the quality of the logo you will receive and the thought/work that went in prior to its creation. Any company or designer will not work many hours on a $99 logo. Any designer worth using will charge at least $50/hour. $99 is simply two hours of work - hardly enough to do an interview, conduct research, create a vision, conceptualizing a drawing, creating the logo, creating different files, colour variations, and the billing process. It's impossible to do all the above in just two hours. So if you have a business that needs a logo, don't be fooled into believing something worth having will come cheap - it won't. Beware of logo deals that promise quality for under $100.00!
A fair logo price:
Any experienced graphic designer will charge at least $300.00-$800.00 per logo because that pays for the time the designer invested in the project. Small to medium sized businesses would have little difficulty paying that amount. Fortune 500 companies would invest $1000's of dollars in a logo. Of course, not all businesses have that budget.
Your logo is your identity. Don't settle for a quick fix solution because your logo is what people will recognize you by. I would love to work for you on your logo design.
